A historical mansion

Hotel Cristal houses in a 19th century mansion, listed as a historical building today. It is ideally located at the heart of Saumur.
Built with tuffeau stone from local quarries, the mansion sets near the townhall.

The location of the hotel used to be a narrow quay between the Loire river and the moats, before it was cut in three parts. During the 17th and 18th centuries, streets and quays got new names, like the 'Butcher's quay' (from the Rue de la Tonnelle to the townhall), that gathered all the butchers of Saumur, near the current hotel.
